Building an Authentic Community of Practice

Taking a look at both my own and the general definition of social justice, it is the fight/viewpoint that everyone deserves equal rights and opportunities no matter their race, sexual orientation, class, or political views. When theorizing and coming up with your own opinions on social justice, you need to understand what privileges you have and why it is important to be fighting for others without the same privileges. Growing up as a white woman, I understand that I have many opportunities and privileges and it is very important to fight and advocate with those who do not have the same privileges. One social justice topic that I care about is LGBTQ+ rights. Having so many friends and people around me in the LGBTQ+ community, it is important to me that they are able to live and have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
